We are a mental health recovery service based within a walled Cotswold garden in Wilcote, Oxfordshire. We are delighted to open the gates to the public for our last Open Day of the year on
Sunday, 12th September ~ 11:00am - 4:00pm
Proceeds from the Open Day go towards supporting our work as a mental health charity, using gardening to help people who have experienced serious mental health difficulties.
Visitors may explore all parts of the vineyard and walled gardens which are ordinarily closed to the public. We will be selling our produce including the Bridewell sparkling wine which is made from the grapes grown in the Bridewell vineyard and which are tended and harvested by our gardeners. Covid restrictions allowing, we hope to have a café open where people can buy delicious teas to enjoy in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Dogs on a lead are welcome and we would encourage people to bring a picnic and make the most of a day out in this idyllic spot.
We do not charge an admission fee but as a charity we kindly ask that people make a suggested donation of £5 per person to enable us to continue the vital work we do for those recovering from severe and enduring mental illness in the local community.
About Bridewell Gardens
Bridewell is a mental health charity providing a recovery service for adults whose lives have been affected by serious mental ill-health. Founded in 1994 in Wilcote near North Leigh, the walled garden and vineyard offer people the time and space for recovery, to their lives, growing confidence and self-esteem in a safe and supportive environment.
The garden provides the opportunity for our service users to undertake therapeutic activities in a social context with the support of a team of staff and volunteers. Each person is supported to work towards next steps, whether returning to work, taking more active roles in their communities, or building strategies to better manage their mental health.
The walled garden features a large pond in the cottage garden, an avenue of roses and apple trees, a knot garden, raised vegetable beds, a soft fruit cage and a herb wheel. Activities at Bridewell include gardening, blacksmithing, rural crafts including willow-weaving, and cooking.

We are pleased to offer this self catering holiday apartment overlooking Ilfracombe Harbour. The two bedroom, 2nd floor apartment is part of a large Georgian house. It is said that Beatrix Potter stayed here as a young woman and the path down to the harbour features in one of her books.
The front windows offer magnificent views of the harbour and over the Bristol channel to the distant Welsh coast. Just in front of the apartment is St. James Park, with its path down to the harbour. It is in an ideal position to enjoy the town, walking and nearby beaches.
Ilfracombe is a Victorian sea side town nestling on the north coast of Devon, overlooking the Bristol Channel. On a clear day the coast and mountains of Wales can be seen in the distance.
The town has a mixture of attractions from the Landmark Theatre, tunnels beaches and museum through to shops, pubs and restaurants. There are coastal walks along the rugged North Devon coast and the renowned sandy beaches nearby at Woolacombe and Croyde are an easy drive away.
I am a local artist specialising in watercolour animal paintings. I am based in my small studio in North Leigh but I have customers all over the World! I work from a good quality photograph to produce stunning, life-like paintings. I offer a variety of sizes framed or unframed. Framed paintings are professionally mounted and are available in white, black, birch or oak.
We are a friendly, self help organisation for retired and semi-retired people living in the Witney area of Oxfordshire. Our aim is to provide continued learning and the opportunity to make new friends, in a sociable environment through a wide range of interest groups run by our members and fortnightly meetings with visiting speakers. Many of these activities continue online during the current pandemic together with new initiatives to help us keep in touch.
